Burundi Delegation Wins First Continental Tourism Prize

A Burundi Tourism Delegation arrived home from a continental tourism competition in Berlin Germany, with the First Place Prize in hand. The competition drew together 300 competitors from all over the world. Burundi stepped up and came out the winners on the continent. Rwanda and Tunisia were in second and third place.

As the trophy was received from the Tourism Minister, Victoire Ndikumana, Burundi President, Pierre Nkurunziza, honored the winning delegation for leading Burundi to the top of the continent of Africa. The President expressed his commitment to support the tourism sector because Burundi is on a path to economic recovery and is enjoying peace and security. Since the country has experienced over twenty years of civil war and a shattered economy, it is encouraging to see this emerging recognition in the tourism competition.
